View Full Version : Is my water suitable for keeping discus

Hi, I am new to this place and I come from Singapore, where its hot and wet throughout the year. I've gotten this water info from my local water's department. Are they good for discus? Thanks for any replies!!! :D

Yes, it looks good to me. Singapore produces some very nice discus!

Lot's of Singapore water authorities have started adding chlorine recently. Make sure to dechlorinate...

I understand LOTS of discus fatalities in recent months due to chlorine poisoning....

Just to double check, i assume a "water-ager" product is suitable to do this sufficiently?

I'm not sure if all products remove chloramines or if some only remove chlorine. It should tell on the label..

Those products don't "age" the water. When we speak of "aging" the water we mean to offgas the CO2 (by agitating or circulating the water) to stablize the pH. This process can remove chlorine, but not chloramines.
