i have some driftwwod with plants growing on it in my bb tank. the plants used to grow very well until a brown slim type of algea started to grow on all the leaves. nowthe growth is very stunted of the plants and the brown slim continues to thrive. it looks very ugly but i don't know how to stop the algea from growing. i can wipe it off the leaves but it always ends up growing back. i do w/c every second day and i have put an "algea stop" chemical in the tank but it doesn't seem to work.

any suggestions??

Usually brown algea is from diatoms/ silicates. Either increase the lighting a bit or try some otocinclus (you can also filter the diatom/ silicates out if you use an RO filter, but the other two options are less expensive). ;)
