Hi guys how are you doing all.....
Slat with this Ingresients is it good :
((Salt, Anti-Caking Agents, Magnesium Carbonate, Sodium Hexacyanoferrate II)) .... can I use this salt ... I just want to make sure before using it because one of the guys here said we can't use any salt for the tanks..... I want to add the salt coz lately my Discus are acting strange; they don't swim alot, very bright in colour(which is nice), if any one gets into the room they swim fast and try to hide, plus I think they spend too much time in the corner of the tank .... is this normal ???
I will add some salt to make things better
thanks :)

Go ahead and add the salt - have you check nitrIte readings? Bright colors and darting around are symptoms. Salt heps, water changes help more. You want zero nitrIte.

Nitrites or a high dose of Nitrates are my guess...

Is it suppose to avoid using salt that has anit caking agent?

Best to use pure salt with no additives, but I have used table salt with iodine and anticaking agents (table salt) at the rate of 1 or 2 tablespoons per 10 gallons if that was all I had in the house.

Water changes are best if nitrItes or nitrAtes are high.

I would never put salt with additives in with my discus, Those are not discus safe. Get solar salt from Home Depot or Lowes, 99.6% sea salt for about $3 for 50 lbs. Carol the salt he has is NOT table salt and the additives may kill his fish. I hope not! Ken

What about the salt that you get in the salt plant thats 100% pure is that good, i live like 35 min. from the salt plant and get some nice salt rock and then grined them and use them in all my tanks with now problems. What is your saying on this topic???

Pure salt is good. Does it have impurities . . . bits of sand, etc?
