Why do they do this ??

New to discus but they have started sitting at the top of the tank ? All help appreciated

Hanging out at the top of the tank usually means a breathing problem.

Check ammonia first
Could be chlorine in the water
Maybe not enough oxygen in water.

In any event do a water change right now. Leave a half inch or so of space below the water return to add some agitation to the water for oxygen exchange.

Are you using CO2?

hi and welcome to simply. i see you just signed on.
i see your from New Zealand. we are getting quite a few from nz on the forum id say at least 8 members or more.
are the fish all good colour? or are they dark and huddling?
if their just up trying to get air...then yes more oxygen. try an airline and bubbler.
Tell us more about your tank and how many fish and sizes etc.

You cant go wrong with Carols and Aprils advice these are top people if you listen and take on board what they say you will learn so much I know I have .. also when/if you get chance read the topics on this board it will help you to undedrstand so much ....
