Hi .... one of the discus I have it seems to have a sight problems .... when it approaches the food it bites under it not on it .... I don't think it's blind coz she knows where the food is and go towards it but the bites are not aimed on the food pieces accuratly ..... why do think is that ..... the fish is healthy but I am afraid this problem will affect on the breeding stages (may eat fertlized eggs instead of the empty ones) .... do you have any suggestions

I have had discus with the same problem. It's like they need glasses. Unfortunately it does not improve with age. They don't get enough to eat and runt.

Such conditions is often the result of multiple line breedings of the particular fish. Make sure you are not breeding that discus to siblings or they may result with even worse sight.

She may not grow up to be a breeder. Mine barely grew at all. I don't think you would want to pass this gene on anyway.

There is a name for the condition, but it escapes me.

I had a Marlboro a few years ago with this condtion a couple of years ago. She was stunted, due to the fact that she couldn't eat very well. She seemed to miss everythig she tried to put in her mouth by an inch or two.

She produced wrigglers, but couldn't pick them up when they fell, although she tried hard....

This is a genetic condition and shouldn't be passed on... but they can still live normal lives.
