Hi folks,

This picture was posted by a person going by the name of Wwwallace on the Aquabotanic forum boards. It struck me as so beautiful and perfect for discus I had to put it here. I can only imagine that this it looks like to see discus swimming around during the flood season.

I could sit in front of that tank forever ;D...What a beautiful setup. If I should ever get down to one tank it will be a planted ;)

wwwallace well what can I say that hasnt already been said :o :o would you share your tank perams with us how long has it been set up do you use Co2 if so what system do you use and what are your fert schedules what products do you use

Basicaly tell us everything about your set up Pleeeease

SET UP

Acuarium: Sirocco: Austro Basic 120 x 40 x 50 (240liters) + 4 cm lights (259liters)

Furniture: Eheim: 120 x 40 x 75

Filter: Eheim: Professionel 2226 charged with Eheim efimech 1L, "esponja", Eheim ehfisubstrat 2L, and "perlón".

TEMP: Sera: 300 W

Lights: Sirocco: 4 hermetic light 30 W, (Osram Luminux plus 840, Osram Luminux plus 840, 2 Osram 965)

Co2 sistem: Sirocco 1,5 Kg + JBL spiral (without pHmeter controler, 24 hours running at 1 bubble x second)

Osmosis: Osmosys: 150litros/dia

Fertilization: Only Tropica Mastergrow: 20 mL weekly, at the begining I've used ferrogan a Fe solid concentred fertilization.

Water changes: 80 liters weekly (72 osmosis + 8 water from faucet)

Habitants:
? 5 Turquoise discs
? 43 Paracheirodon axelrodi
? 8 Ancistrus dolichopterus (little)
? 2 Dicrossus filamentosus
? 4 Taeniacara candidi
? 11 Corydoras sterbai
? 5 Corydoras melanistius
? 2 Otocinclus affinis
? Important poblation of Melanoides tuberculata
? A few Planorbis and physas

Plants:
? Echinodorus tenellus
? Echinodorus bleheri
? Echinodorus parviflorus 'Tropica'
? Echinodorus 'Ozelot' green

Water parameters :

Comments:
It was installed at 1 September 2002
In one year I only cleaned the filter 1 time 6 months ago.
I've never clean the sand "sifonar"

Lol! ;D thanks at all the unique thing I miss it's that I've 12 hours light period. I'm thinking augment in 2 plus hours..

What do you think about? 14 hours will be too much?

That's exactly how I want my 120gal Planted Discus Tank to look. A few more resident Discus though.

I'd keep the light period at 10-12 hrs per day. Any more and you're asking for algae problems.

that's ok! I'll reduce one hour because in the summer I've a little problem with algae.
