That's a neat tank, it's very natural looking.

From the picture I would guess that you have Blue Green Algae (BGA) in front of your wood. It's usually caused by poor circulation to an area and can be fixed one of three ways.

1. If your nutrition is poor (and is the cause of the algae) remedy that.
2. Poor circulation. Increase circulation.
3. Give a slight dose of Seachem Excel every once in a while. For some reason it helps get rid of BGA. Noone know why, not even Seachem. Every once in a while I'll get some in the front of my tank when the foreground plants get thick and I just do a water change and add a little Excel to the water 10mL/90g and it goes away.

Best of luck,
Phil

Were the algae is at the front is growing in the main current coming back from the filter. The return is on a 45d angle to the front of the tank, it hits about half way along the front and flows down from there.

It cant see why it would grow there (were there is no or little current eg behing the wood its not growing).

The stand is made out of pine floor boards and stained walnut.

Luke i got the wood from a fish shop in Orange cost me $140

Cheers.
