Is your tank situated in a dark corner of your flat/house, do you keep the tank light switched on?

I'm not sure if temperature makes any difference for pepper grains, but I did read about one of the Asian breeders who kept bright light on 24X7 to keep the young from development peppers. I will check if that's available here somewhere...

I reckon it'll be nice and hot in Singapore, even during the "winter" months, but the water temp may become a bit cooler if your tank is exposed to a nearby A/C unit or open window (or electric fan). A heater is probably a good idea as it will help to keep the water temp constant during the cool (warm?) nights.

You should get a heater and raise the temp. by 3 degrees C.

Pepper is skin pigment. It may lighten to the point you do not notice it if you have a light background, clean tank and healthy discus.

If you have a dark background, substrate and lots of dark wood and plants the pepper will darken. The pepper will darken if the fish is ill or stressed or breeding.
