You use different medication for different types of worms. There is an index in the disease medication board that lists different treatments.

I don't worm on a regular basis - only if I suspect I have a problem.

I add garlic to my discus flakes. I use a couple of drops of the juice from the jar of minced garlic and let it soak into the flakes for 5 min or so. This is not a quick cure but will get rid of them over a month or so, so if you have a bad infestation this is not the best way, it is for minor infestations or prevention.
