View Full Version : how do i treat stunted discus?

i have 2 stunted discusand how do i treat them... when i bought my stunted discus they were nice and orange, however after i had them for like 3 days, it show small dots of black pepper and its fin is turning black on the edges and the fish went pale? what does that mean? how do i fix the problem ?

It is common for pigeon blood discus to get orange speckles and dark fins. These fish do best with no gravel and light (white, pale blue) backgrounds. The pepper does not go away, but fades when the discus is in the right enviornment. The pepper is kind of like the stress bars on oather discus.

Check for ammonia. Do a water change if any ammonia is present. Are you doing daily water changes?

Just because a discus has peppering does not indicate it is stunted. Do you have any pictures of your discus? This will help us identify if they are stunted or not. If your discus is stunted the best way to help it to start growing naturally again is to provide the best conditions.
