Hi All

I have turned up the heat to 90 F and since then my Ammonia level has gone up. The tank has been fully cycled and I was just wondering if the high temp will kill off the nitrifying bacteria?

Thanks

No, 90 degree water will not kill off bacteria in filters.

Thanks Carol

It must be something esle ??? I did rinse one of my filters yesterday, maybe I killed some of the nitrifying bacteria.

Mmmm strange, any idea what nitrifying bacteria looks like?? Is the the brown slime on the filter media??

Cheers

I don't know what they look like. I think the brown slime is decomposed food, feces and dead bacteria
