hello all
just wanted to know if the water temp. at 77' would make the discus turn dark and hide all the time? :-\

I think that 77 is just a tad too low of discus...Now my breeders are different, sometimes a w/c to 77 helps to trigger spawing, but I don't keep the temp there for long..lowest I keep is 82

Agree with Mench - sounds too low. I had the electricity go out for about 14 hours (fortunately it was summer) and there were no harmful effects. It trigggered egg laying in my Marlboro Red. Can you get a warmer temperature, say 84-86F? Age of the fish may be a variable here, too, with growing fish doing better in warmer water, I think, but I am not sure about that.

Hi,
I like to keep the temp about 83 or 84 F. When they are small I like 86 to help them grow faster IMO.

Less problems with parasites at higher temps too IMO.

Lower temperatures can result in bacterial infections.
