Im looking for many diy links however there is one condition! You personaly must be the builder! I dont really want links for all over the web showing this and that (unless its a really good step by step link). I know that we have a good number of diy'ers here with a wealth of info.

Also, if you have built something by yourself and have not posted yet, please do! ;)

Please reply with the link and an explanation! I will review it and post it in a master link thread! Or perhaps there is a thread here already that I should be made aware of because of its great contents, please do!

Thanks! ;D

Well - here is 2 links (both for the same project) - I first posted it on plantedtank.net where I am an active member... the second is over on the angelfish forum II - apparently the photo journals on plantedtank.net are not accessible for non registered users (bandwidth issue) but I had a request to re-post it so I did.

Now in actuality it is a currently running project over on plantedtank.net - it's a journal of my re-starting my 77 gallon fish tank after a 2 - 3 year hiatus... (and I was a fish only kinda guy - (breeding angels) going planted this time around with discus as a community etc..) - been keeping fish now for about 20 years... and so far this project has seen my building a DIY hood capable of driving enough light for the planted 77.

Anyway - I am only really keeping it updated on plantedtank.net - I may be persuaded to also post it here - seeing as I finally made my decision today to go with Discus (that was a 3 month decision - no kidding:-) lol - I only added the flourite substrate to the tank today... it's been sitting in bags on the floor now for 2 weeks:-)

anyway - the links are....

Yes I am the owner of the photo's and the builder etc... :-)

Hi,

I am new to this forum and trying to decide if I want to get involved with Discus. Any way did not mean to get off topic but the best DIY sections I have seen are on a chiclid forum library section http://www.cichlid-forum.com/articles/diy_list.php . Also in the regular DIY section in the forum area are the best and most detailed articles on constructing aquariums I have run across. Lots of insider tips on joining acrylic the proper way to make professional joints. The following is an excellant link to acrylic construction http://www.cichlid-forum.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=25987.

A good takoff site that will calculate your aquarium you want to build and give you a materials takoff with all your cuts calculated for you is located at
just go to the DIY section on left margin of page then open it and you will see the tank section. http://www.garf.org

Hope this helps ;D
