Hi Mike! I buy 50 lb. bags of salt for water softeners to use in my tanks. Usually less than $4.00 a bag at Home Depot or other hardware stores. There are usually several brands all with varying prices. I buy the cheapest and have had no problems. Beth

I get 50 lb. sacks from the fram and ranch stores for $3.40 a pop...its the kind that that they mix into cattle feed, a milk cow has to have pretty clean feed or its going to show up in the milk. so if a cow can have it, so can my discus!

Just make sure the bag says sodium chloride NOT Potassium chloride.

Home depot carries the salt that i use. SIfto brand "crystal" 99.5% Pure sodium chloride. I've used it extensively for a couple of years now with no problems.

Same with me daniel. When all my fish got sick with the plague, I used a whole bag in 2 weeks.

I was getting hawaiian salt for $4 for 5lbs, I'll check HD for that 50lbs bag!
With all the h20 changes, I've been going through choke (plenty) salt since I got my discus.
Thanks again everybody,
Mike
