Hi all.

I need some help. For purposes of my drip system I need to know the number of drops in a gallon of water.

My memory vaguely recalls a water drop is about 0.05ml. (IE 20 drops per ml.)Does that sound correct?

Thanks.

Water drops vary in sizes depending on the dropper's opening. An I.V. drop in the reservoir or insulin needle is 1/3 the size of an eye dropper. A water drop underneath a leaf in your garden is even bigger. Not a good measuring tool.

Dan,

Would using the time it takes to fill, rather than the number of drops, work for your purposes?

LOL. Thanks Ron. How did you measure this?

Basically i want to be able to count how many drops are dripping in a given time and from that determine the rate of flow in gallons per hour.

My system does not use drip emmiters. Too much hastle to change flow. I'm using adjustable drippers.

I was hoping someone had figured this out already and save me the trouble.

Thanks for the input peoples! ;)

ronrca: I have an OLD version (v4.10 from '99).

BTW, there is 15.41963 drops in a ml! And a teaspoon is 4.928922 ml ;D

Per (strictly metric ;))
