Some goldfish can live with this for a long time. did you try epsom salt? Does it ever go away and come back after feeding? IF yes, soak food prior to feeding and feed less for awhile. IF no buy kanacyn and double dose first dose. It's hard to cure if bacterial infection rather than just constipation/bloat.

Thank you Carol for the reply i did put salt in it today and yes i did notice that it does go away. it all started Sat. night i notced the fish was not able to stay at the bottom of the tank but this morning i woke up and the fish was fine i fed the fish and still fine through the day. when i feed them at night it's when it starts again. i dont feed them that much 1 to 2 x a day. you say to soak the food? i feed them flake food.

Yes, soak the flake in water before putting in tank. Cut back on amount fed.
Boil some frozen peas and pop the center out. Throw out husks and feed soft green pea centers (just 3 or 4 per goldfish)
You used epsom salt (magnesium sulfate)- not table salt (sodium chloride) right?

Sounds good - you need to experiment to see what works.

Hello Carol,
You know i have a question.... Where does peas come into this treatment and how does it help them? Will he get better? Or is it something that he'll have for the rest of his life? If he does have it for the rest of his life......Will he live a long life with the proper diet or what? Thank you for the reply..... :)

I think the peas act as a laxitive. His may get better, but he will be prone to bloating - you'll have to be careful for ever. He can still live a long time.

The old food I really don't remember I gave it to my sister it was Tetra something I will find out though you can also bue it from the grosery store. The new food I bought for him/ her is called O.S.I the web address is
www.osimarinelabs.com it's easy to digest I read that and I was like it don't hurt to try and it didn't it was a miracle I was sooooo happy you just don't know he can swin..... no problem there.... and he's not at the top of the tank sitting there saying I beat. It was so sad I hated it seeing him on his side cause he was sooooo bloated. It's only been one day but he/she can eat two to three times a day..... That is great ;D Thanks Carol for all of the replys....... :) :) ;)
