People,

For no reason, all my four discuses are hiding themselves for no apparent reason. Even when I feed them, they are not as excited as they used to be. The red marlboro who is the most active of the lot has also joined the pack. I just changed my water by 50% 4 days ago. Can anybody enlighten me on this.

Hi Wilfred,
THere are many variables that could contribute to this behavior. Water parameters, various inconsistencies in their environment, feeding source and regimen, water qualities, tank conditions, longevity in the tank or disease or bacterial infection. If you let us know more about the conditions in your tank it would be helpful. IME this kind of behavioral change usually ocurrs if the water quality breaks down. I know that i find my fish do, look and behave best when they get daily water changes.
Let us know more and people will be able to help you better.

Peter is correct.
Try daily water changes of 25 - 30%. rinse your filters in used tank water and wipe down the inside of the tank. Add 1 or 2 tablespoons salt per 10 gallons. Many times this alone will perk them up.

How big is your tank?
What are your nitrates at?
How long has your tank been setup?
