The only CO2 bottles I can find locally is either the 20LB or 55LB. The 20 LB bottle of course is a little too tall to fit in the stand. So if I mount the bottle on its side will it function ok. And if I mount it on its side would it be better to get a bottle with a siphon tube as oposed to one without?

TIA

You cannot lay down a CO2 compressed gas cylinder. The CO2 in the tank in in liquid form (until you use most of it up) and it will get into the regulator. The regulator is not made to handle the CO2 liquid and the liquid will freeze the tubing. You also need to strap your tank to a wall or something (mine is strapped to the aquarium stand with heavy duty velcro).

There are lots of sites with safety information for compressed gasses, here is a couple:

What?!? You didn't go to my website and see the link to Superior Products? ;D

Here is the link - they have 10 pound and 5 pound aluminum CO2 tanks (they sell equipment for restaurants, etc...):

Keep in mind that the CO2 tanks should be taken in for inspection every few years. I get mine refilled at the local fire extinguisher shop. I asked him if there are any oils, etc... in their CO2 and the guy in charge told me that they run the CO2 through a filter that traps any contaminants.
