I'm setting up a new 55g AGA tank with a metal stand this weekend. Do you folks place the tank directly against the metal, or use styrafoam or something else under the tank?

Thanks!

I,ve always heard it's good to put some type of flexible barrier between the tank and stand to help with evening out any imperfections in tank leveling which can stress out the joints and cause leaks or worse.

I use pink styrofoam from a home building store. I usually use 1" thick styrofoam. ;) Yes, it is a good idea!

in the past i've used cardboard. I'll pick up some of the 1" styrofoam.

I use the blue stuff, I'm lazy, dont have to paint tanks when I use it.
