Hi. I've been reading up on all the info here and have a question on my own. It seems like everyone recommends a 55 gal to grow the juvies and then another tank as the show tank. Since space is limited for me, I cant afford to get a rectangular 55 gal, so I was looking around and noticed the hexagonal shape. Is this a good shape tank to raise the juvies? or no? My guess is that once the juvies get big enough I will get a 100-125 gal and then if i'm lucky use this 55 as a breeder tank. Any suggestions or comments? As much as I would love to have 5-10 tanks in my basement, i think the most i can do is 2

I like 48 inch, 55 gallon tanks to raise juveniles. They are easy to clean (reach the back and bottom) and give the fish room to be apart or together. You can have one end with current and the other end with quiet water. There is better air exchange with a larger foot print too.

Hex tanks are tall. If you are a tall man they may work fine for you. My arms are not long enough ;)
