Aqua clear vs. Whisper?

While the topic of filters is under debate, I thought i'd bring up 2 hob's. The AC and the Whisper-
They seem to be similar; Just wondered if anyone had experiences with both... (Carol?)

Aqua Clear is my favorite filter. It holds tons of media, is cheap, quiet, keeps it siphon and is easy to clean

I used to use Whispers but I have since replaced them all with A/C's. The Aquaclears are easier to clean and you can just buy foam inserts for them. While the Whispers only offer cotton, carbon-filled, expensive media for their filters. I do not use carbon in my tanks and I much prefer the foam media to the cotton cartridges.

I do want to say though that convenience was the sole reason for my switch. I never had any problems with the Whispers, I just like the flexability that the A/C's give me.

Sounds good! In all actuallity, I really already knew what the outcome of this post/poll was going to be! AC's all the way. That was even before I had remembered those filter bag things for the whisper; which I never did like. Just wanted to see if anyone used the whispers, but I'm now 100% satisfied with my conclusion...
AC's are going on my tank!

fyi... you can also by foam inserts for whispers and yes the cotton comes with carbon packets but you don't have to put it in.

I've never owned an A/C so I really can't comment on them.
