By far, the nicest Koi angels that I've seen are from www.angelsplus.com.

Steve Rybecki is probably one of the best angel breeders in the US. He's developed a koi strain that has a lot of orange coverage, which is hard to do!

I've ordered fish from him and they are top notch.

hth,
Joel Fish :)

Gary,
Are you looking for a spawning pair or a bunch of fry?

Check out www.simplyangelfish.com Sometimes the members have a few for sale. I have some, but it will be another three weeks before my next batch will be ready.

I don't consider what Mellow aquatics sells to be koi. Sure they're biologically koi, but I think that a proper koi should have orange, black AND white. It's just a personal preference. Besides $40+ for a quarter sized angelfish...I'll take a discus instead thanks! Or you can pick up a koi pair for a mere $950!!!! :o :o :o :o I honestly don't know how he can stay in business with those prices. I have other thoughts that many others share as well, but there is no need to post them here.

Both Steve and Lori have excellent stock...I have some from both of them. You can't go wrong with either of those choices.

I just saw that you're in NY. I'm not sure how close it is but Angels Plus is in Oleans.

Olean, NY is only a few hours drive for me. COOL!!! :D

It's great to have a top breeder right in your own backyard ;D I'm going to pay him a visit.

Glad to hear it! Let us know how it goes for you.

I know what you mean about being in a breeders backyard...I'm about 30mins or so from GLD!!!! ;D Now if I can only get over there to see him sometime!!! :(

Little bit of a bummer.

I e-mailed Steve and while he'll let you come to his place it's to pick up fish ONLY to save on shipping. No picking out your own fish and no tours through his hatchery :-[

Gary I was going to have you pick out some Orange koi if you went to see him. Let me know what you doing Steve

Gary,
I was about to post that and let you know. I just found out last night.

Apparently he won't let anyone into his hatchery....it's a little odd if you ask me. If I had known that before I bought my fish I may have changed my mind. Something just isn't right about that.

Hi Gary and Steve,

Recently, I received a dozen nickel sized Koi Angelfish from Steve. Had them shipped to my office. They are absolutely gorgeous and growing really well. No problems with them. His angels came highly recommended from another older breeder in the Baltimore area.

I highly recommend his angelfish. They are outstanding quality, shape and color.

I know you wouldn't know it from the name of this guys website. www.flguppiesplus.com But Luis is one of the top Koi angelfish breeders in the U.S. He will also allow tours of his hatchery. He keeps no secrets. I wish he would start breeding discus again, but he hasn't in over 10 years.

I agree, Luis Tamarelle has some beauties. I have a pair of his koi and many offspring. I also have a couple of pairs from John M. from Mellowaquatics. I am hoping to cross the two types as I have a few more just about ready to pair.

Aloha, Ike ;D

Hi all,
I'm a new memeber to this great forum, however, I lurked for couple years.

I've known John (the owner of Mellowaquatics) for several years and he built my fishroom for me too. He has great angel fish and his hatchery has about 400 tanks of all kinds of angels.

About 1 year ago, due to my personal error , I lost all my discus; 84 adult discus which included 4 pairs in my 23 tanks fish room. I was so down after this tragedy and really wanted to quit form this hobby. John kept comfort me and offered me about 4 dozen all kinds of angel fish and two dozen of golden servern to me at miniimum cost. Now, my pain for that tragedy is finally done and I slowly get back to discus hobby again.

After one year that John offered the beautiful angel to me, they are all grown up; I have at least 8 pairs of angel and 4 pair of golden servern laying eggs almost every week. I really do not have time to take care of them because my main foucus is back to discus. If anyone is interested in Mellowaquatics's high quality angel fish and willing trade discus with me please conatct me. Local only please, I live in Rockville Maryland.

Thanks

I also have 5 balck velvet. All the aboved angels are at least 3+" (body size) and about 1 year old. All the kio angels are gone.

Here's some very nice golden serven, size from 3+" to 4.5" and are about 1 year old.
