I just squeeze mine under the water so they soak them up ;) Todd

They tend to collect alot of bubbles for the first several hours they are in the tank. Squeeze them out under water really good to remove excess air. They will eventually settle to the bottom on their own.

when I first started using sponge filters it took almost a couple of days for new ones to quit floating. Give it some time and it will come down on its own, I know it's hard not to keep passing by the tank and squeezing the heck out of it every few hours :)

Are you using weighted sponge filters or are you using some other type that does not have the weighted bottom??

put it in the water and keep sqeezeing it, the air bubles are releases and water start to soak in slowly. It takes a bit long but fastest way that I have found of doing things.

One solutions is to fill up the in a buket with a shower and let i stand for a while and the fill up the tank.

I had a couple that wouldn't stay put. They just happened to have some room inside the tube so I filled it will small gravel keeps them down real good..
