Hi All

I have chloramine in my tap water. I get ammonia readings of 1 ppm out of the tap. I use prime in the storage barrel and after 24 hours I still get ammonia readings of .5 ppm. I was told that prime can sometimes give a false ammonia reading? If any one out there that has chloramine in there tap could tell me how you deal with it I would greatly appriciate it. My fish deem o be very healthy so it seems to bother me more than them.

Has anyone tested the storage water for ammonia after ageing? I think the Prime is getting rid of the chlorine and leaving behind the ammonia. does the cloram-x products do this?

You can read about the mechanism of AmQuel activity at www.kordon.com (http://www.kordon.com).

I am using GAC filters plus Amquel together, sometimes
triple the dosage of Amquel is required depending on the
amount of ammonia. I do this as a aquarium service business so there is no water storage tanks, everything is straight from the tap to the GAC filters and into the tanks.

If you have an hatchery you can lease or rent 2 carbon filters from Culligan's(1-800-634-1455) they look like large oxygen tanks, they will have
to be install by a plumber into you water line.

You can also check with your LFS to find out how they are dealing with the Chloramine.
