Hello Guys

I have been just ignoring my tank full of wilds for the last 2 months since I have been working so much. They are lucky to get a weekly water change right now.

Seems the fish like it when I dont bug them to much.

Prior to all that work I had a RSG and an Alenquer that had been giving each other the eye, the shake and all.

Well 2 months later with hardly a water change the fish did finally spawn. I came home from work ready to do a water change yesterday and they had spawned during storm that I had just driven through.

I put in a divider today to give them 1/3 of the 120 gal tank. Its funny to watch the female charge the divider whenever one of the other fish on the other side gets close to it.

If I get wigglers and or free swimming Ill put up some pictures for everyone.

Peace,
Roger

Well its day 4 and here is a so so pic .

The corner of the tank is a spot where the lighting is tough to work with.

The RSG is the male who you can see and the mom is an alenquer who you can partially see. The mass of fuzz in front of the male are the wiglers.

They have moved the fry a total of 5 times that I know of.

Peace,
Roger

The weather up at my place and down at Ronalds has been a bit on the wet side here as of late.

Jerry was the 1st person to mention that when we hit hurricane season that the wilds seem to start spawning. Im very inclined to aggree with him that the weather is atleast one trigger for the wilds.

Peace,
Roger

Well the next big hurdel has been reached ...

The fry where free swimming yesterday :)

The big challenge now is to keep everyone alive for a few weeks.
If that happens then I think Im out of the woods.

Of course I have to find a place to house all of these guys, but thats something I dont mind.

Yogi, your more than welcome to some fish. Of course your going to need to have your 220 up and running 1st :)

For all you picture fans here is one of the nicer ones to come out of that tank.

Its Mom with about 1/2 of the babies.

Peace,
Roger

Heres a pic of Dad with babies.

So far Dad is far more tolerant of the kids than Mom is, they spend about 75% of the time with him.

Here is a shot of the parents 1/3 of the 120gal tank.

Its a bit on the algaed side but they wont let the pleco out of the corner just yet :)
The pleco is hiding underneath that double stacked sponge filter.

The filter tube you see is where they laid the eggs. I deactivated 2 cannister filters when I switched over to a wet dry and left those hooked up but off.

The tank divider is a piece of lighting egg crate with fibre screen sown over it and then I lined the sides with blue filter floss media (I shoved a piece on the bottom to seal that off).

Peace,
Roger

It’s nice to see someone succeed with there breeding of wild discus. More than I report with my own wild fish at home. Maybe my fish need some time alone. Congratulation! ;D

Here is another picture.

The babies at this point are 10 days old and they have started to peck at food that the parents are eating.

Im hoping that Ill be able to move them in another week, two weeks at the tops.

Once I can move them Ill be taking a look at who wants fish here locally then maybe see about shipping fish.

Peace,
Roger
