My New Heckel.........

Tired of keeping domestics, I tried keeping Wild for a change. Hope this one works. Got it last week. A little bit scared though, but settling in slowly.

As you may know, I happen to have a tank of wilds :)

Its actually 2 tanks of wilds at the moment.

Yogi here in Florida has a small garage full of wilds and they do look nice.

I found that the wilds tend to have a lot more personality once they settle in. It usually takes mine about a month to do that. Once they do the colors brighten up and they get pretty frisky. The heckels though are usually the more reserved of the bunch.

The heckel looks nice, feed it well and dont crowd it and you will find out just how nice a wild can be.

Nice heckel oracle, i like the red eye which is fairly uncommon with them i think.

I don't think heckels come from peru, mostly they are found around the negro river area.

Hi Oracle

The peru discus is a form of green discus, it is in the most western range from where discus come from. The heckel is found in the central amazon basin, around the rio negro.

Hey Oracle,
I have three good sized Heckels...one will eat the kitchen sink...one will eat worms and beefheart only and one will eat nothing but worms. You will probably find out soon why the Heckel strain is not as easy to keep as the Browns and Blues.
