View Full Version : My parent discus dont want look after the fry!!!!!!!!

My pair discus refuses to allow the 3days old fry to feed on their slime..Is there another way to feed the fry??Or to 'train' the parents...BTW this is their second batch of fry..They eaten the first batch...Help PLS!! :'(

They may start eating bbs at 4 days or so. There should be an article of artificially raising fry on the Simply website. I've never done it.

Are they first time parents? if so they sometimes need to 'get it right' and usually do after maybe the 2nd spawn. maybe try covering half the light to attract all the fry and adults to the illuminated side? the fry might get a better chance of feeding from them

Hi,
Reduce water lewel to 50% or lower ( minimum to cover dorsal fin when fish is in normal position ).
Reduce light ( keep room light on dont use light over the tank ).
And live them alone.

Hi Solo. Are they 3 day old fry as in 3 days free swimming? or 3 days from hatching? What are the parents doing that makes you think they don't want to look after the fry?
