How to ship fish?

Well i need to sell my fish in my 30 gal so i can use it to grow out fry. Where do i get the boxes and styrofoam? I noticed that when my friend got a delivery the box was labled with "Alive" and some other stuff so im wondering where i can get this. Or can i use a regular box with styrofoam cut to the right size? also i will be using fed ex so which option of overnight should i use and em i able to specify that its a fish at the post office and they will take extra care of it? and which option of overnight should i pick. 1. First Overnight 2. Priority Overnight 3. Standard Overnight.

can someone at least tell me which overnight service i should use. that is the most important.

Hi Valor, sorry I don't know about which overnight service you should use, hopefully one of the experienced "shippers" will let you know.

I do know that you can get shipping boxes from your lfs, call the store and ask them to save boxes for you. They usually have the cardboard boxes with foam inside.

I've never shipped fish, but any fish I have received were shipped FedEx.

Hi Valor,
Depends on the areas, the 3 different shipping options has different time of arrival. For me, First Overnight arrives before 8:30 AM, Priority Overnight before 10:30 AM and Standard Overnight before 12:30 PM. I think anyone is OK but the price will be different. In general, the earlier arrival the better but more money.

cant you sell them locally? far easier.theres some good articles on shipping fish and bagging etc..in the library perhaps.

Discus KC, that just sounds like a really bad excuse to buy more fish ! I could see myself doing something like that! (Need more styro, so i'll buy fish from someone else) :P
