Thought I'd ask what every one uses these days to prevent fungus on eggs?

If you wouldn't mind sharing how you use the above that would be cool too.

Hi Al ;)

I use a turkey baster, put some meth blue in a cup and squirt it directly on the eggs after the pair has finished spawning. I then add 1 drop/ gal to the water. I've been getting amazing hatch rates, very little fungus. For me, it works better than formalin or meth blue alone.

Nothing but clean water for my pairs, fungus is something i don't usually see even on the coagulated eggs. The parents seem to do a good job keeping them clean for me. Perhaps the low ph i breed my pairs in helps control bacteria and fungus as well?? Hatch rate for my pairs is normally around 80 to 100 which is not overly high but more than enough babies per spawn for me to work with so i don't bother looking for answers to increase the rate...in saying that i do get some massive spawns as well over 200 fry but that is not usual.

5.5 to 6.5 Al, depending on the pair.

Nothing. Only unfertilized eggs grow fungus. JMHO Then a mild dose of formalin will help prevent fluke attack after hatching and being carried by parents . Another dose right after separation.

Very little experience here but...

My breeders get peat-filtered water until wigglers are a few days old. I've read and I believe that the peat treated water is a natural anti-pathogen.
Wish I could find an article to back this up... anyone?

The parents do a good job of removing dead eggs as-well.
