Well, as some of you know I live in Central FL. I am right in the path of hurricane Charley (which at the time of posting is a catagory 4). Hopefully it shouldnt be to bad as I am 60 miles inland. I do feel sorry for people who are living in Tampa as they had to evacuate. One gentleman named Brian, from Clearwater (www.clearwaterdiscus.com) has a good sized hatchery and he had to evacuate. Hopefully he doesnt loose power for long :-\. I myself am prepared for poweroutages. We bought a generator yesterday and have it hooked up to the house to run a few basic things (fridge, lights and central air pump for the fish). But, on the bright side, I had a pair spawn yesterday and I have 5 other pairs shakin and peckin........ We will see what happens. Wish us luck :)

Good luck to all that are nearby or direct in the path.

I think they will shut the power down at some point soon >:(

Over here at West Broward we are lucky again. Just a bit Tornado watch.

We are in Ocala. The heavy rain just started. Everything "battened" down, and all the critters inside and accounted for. :) My theory must have been right...My pair have been getting ready to spawn for a couple of days after 2 years!!!! My theory was that the low pressure area simulated the rainy seasons in the Amazon. I'm still hoping!!!! Janice

Thanks everyone! The hurricane was downgraded to a catagory 2 by the time it hit us. It was very windy and ALOT of rain. Luckily we didnt loose power at any point. It is past now and we are now just getting a nice calm rain.

p.s: She is doing MUCH better and is getting better everyday Barb. Hopefully she will be in a walking cast in 2 weeks.

Hello fellow Floridians,

I hope you all made it through Hurricane Charley with minimal damage to your homes and neighborhoods. We thought we were going to get a lot of it here, but the bulk of it ended up missing us. I am northwest of Daytona Beach so all we got was a lot of rain and some slight wind.

I have been watching the news and it looks like some counties got battered pretty hard. I just heard that the newest disturbance in the Atlantic is going to be called Earl, and they show that he is following almost the exact same path as Charley did. I hope Earl turns and goes north into the ocean!

The now tropical storm Charley is running along a path about an hour east of where I am. Still getting a lot of rain, but fortunately nothing like what a hurricane brings.

Here's a pic from the weather channel:

I saw the mess Charley made on TV here in Aussie land last nite - hope all you guys are all safe - we've been lucky, no bad cyclones this year, been through some bad ones, so I know how scary they can be, take care all :)
