question on eyes on stunted fish

Hi All!!! I have 6 discus that I got about 2.5" about a month ago and you can tell that they all are growing, some better than others but I read alot about the eyes looking big for stunted fish or runts. The eyes on most of the fish look alittle bigger than some I see but they are growing so I wonder what this can mean? Is this normal or might they have been stunted when I got them. I do 50% water change once a day and feed them about 4-5 times a day. :-\ :-\ ;D

Do you know how old the fish are? Better yet, can you post a pic? It sounds like you have a good feeding and water change regimen going.

If they do have big eyes due to being stunted, it doesn't look that bad to me. You should be ok. Just change lot's of water and feed the hell out of them. :)

hi, i am new to discus too. from what i heard from my friend, as long as the fish is still growing, big eyes are not the signs of stunt. but if the fish is quite old and mature, he might be stunted. anyway, if your fishes are your favourite, why bother whether they are stunted or not??

Pictures 1 and 4 look slightly stunted, but their shapes are good and their fins are standing up strong. Certainly not too late to make them grow out real nice...

Pound them with lots of food and water changes and you'll end up with some very nice fish!!!
