Question about chlorine

We just recently moved into town and the town water contains chlorine and a few other chemicals. Is there anything I need to do to the water before changing my fish into the tank? Or do you think the town water will be ok? (We had well water before) And is there anything that I should put in the water?

First thing I would do is to check the Ph after bubbling the water for 24 hrs, to see what the difference is between town water and what the fish were used to from the well water.........next is to find out exactly what they're adding to the water- chlorine, chloramine?

I use a product called "Prime" for removal of the 2 above chemicals. Hope this helps......Brenda
