one-eyed discus

I have about 70 month old discus, i have noticed 2 maybe 3 with only one eye. do you think that this is due to them getting sucked down the siphon tube and getting it scraped badly, or a developmental defect, or genetic?

It is usually due to one of two things, genetics or water quality. Eye problems can be either or as i have seen them occur in bad water quality and in fish with bad genetics. Regardless, it is a cull.
