I am planning to build a racks for 4 75g tanks (2 levels, 2 tanks per level). Any advice on what dimension of lumber should I use. I plan to build it using 2"x4" lumber with 6 vertical "legs" (4' apart). Each "leg" support abut 600 pounds. Will it work?

Thanks.

Jack,

Thanks for the photo. What size of lumber did you use? 2*4 or 4*4?

Here's a rack I use for 4 - 75's

http://www.cjexotics.com/remodel/000_0176.jpg

not the greatest stand but it works and took up exactally the amount of space I had to put it in.

on that one I used 2x6's (due to useing less legs).

Here's mine; 2x4 construction...

These are 55's on the bottom but the 75's would be easy enough to do..

Thanks for the photos. RandelB, what size of tanks do you have at the top level? You fit 4 tanks nicely on top of two 55g 8). Also, would you mind take a look at the water parameters question I posted on the Water Work Forum under my name "tlum". So far, I have no response. I am particularly interested in drilling the tanks and setting up a drip system - too many business related travel and don't want to brother my wife to change water.

Again, thanks.
