I've Finally got my Discus (Thanks Chuckbam!) home and everyone is looking good. I've still got the 2 swordtails I used for cycling in there, and I'm debating whether or not to leave them in. I was planning on getting rid of them, but they do a good job of eating the scum that occasionally builds up on the tank surface. They tend to be a little aggressive toward one another tho, and I'm concerned that they might beat up on the discus, since they're so much quicker. Has anyone else tried this combo?

Thanks,

-J

It depends on your intentions. If you want to breed then its a definate no, But if you just want them for display, discus are more agressive than swordtails and the swordtails will balance out since they are faster. What you have to watch out for is food. Discus tend to be shy and swordtails have no problem approaching food, so your discus might end up hungry. Other than that your discus should be fine with swordtails.

I'd like to breed eventually, but these guys are 2-3" right now. What effect would the swordtails have on breeding?

Thanks!

Keep them in there for now. If they bother the discus get rid of them.
