I have six young adults, about a year old, in a 55 gal. bare tank. Three have formed a close alliance and have pretty much taken over one end of the tank. The female has laid eggs several times on the filter intake tube while the other two methodically take turns making passes over the eggs and keeping the rest of the tank occupants at bay. I don't know which one(s) eat them but they are gone by the time I turn the lights on the next morning.

I have kept discus for the past 10+ years and have never witnessed anything like this; nor do I recall reading about it. I'm not interested in breeding them, just curious about whether others have had similar experiences.

Hi Bud!

Check out this thread for a real departure from the Norm in breeding! :)

Also somewhere in the photo gallery Barb newell posted a pic of what could be best only be described as a breeding orgy. It seemed like every fish in that tank was trying to spawn at the same time and place. :)
