I purchased a medical oxygen tank from ebay, got a perscription from my doctor, and called 50 different places to get it refilled and I can't find any company that will do it. Air gas is the biggest refiller in this area but they will only refill for companies, not individuals. Apria and the other Medical companys will only fill their own tanks. Help!

Hi,
Many companies will not fill other companies tanks.

One reason is tanks need to be pressure tested and valves tested.

I must return to the place of purchase to get acetylene, oxygen, and shielding gas tanks refilled.

Don't know how to help.

I get mine refilled at a local welding shop. Do you have one in your area?

Ardan is right.

THe local welding place in my town will only refill their own tanks. There is a liability issue and a lot of place will not refill anything but their own tanks. You might get lucky and find one that does not care.

Bernie:
You don't need medical grade oxygen. The O2 for welding purposes is fine. I don't know how much you paid for the tank through Ebay, but I may be able to get you a used 40 cf welding tank of O2, including the regulator and hose, and filler for $80. It's not a bad deal including all the above. I'm just checking to see if it is an Airgas tank. I know that Airgas will fill their own welding O2 tanks for individuals. It's about $15 to fill a 40cf tank.

Let me know if you're interested. I may be coming up to Sacramento area next weekend.
