Good deal. What is the other parent?

dalelad

other parent's a domestic brown heckel, with less prominent heckel bar.

my first batch of off-springs, 4 months old now, are beginning to show the heckel barrings!! i'm so so SO excited!!!

and thanks for the very generous comments guys! i know you guys at simply would appreciate wild strains very much!

I LOVE WILDS!

Dan, the temperature is about 24 dCelsius and pH's about... 7.6!!!

Tad, i guess it isn't really an accomplishment on my part.. but the fish's. i'm sure glad the heckel spawned! i gotta thank him! ;)

cheers guys!

Is that a wild caught heckel you are using or a domestic x heckel? it looks much too blue/turquoise to me......either way..someone had to breed heckels to get these heckels
:)
well done

Hi Dalelad!

Nice looking pair you have there. I do have to agree with David, They don't look wild...though they have a really nice heckel bar. Are these from the same breeder you got those beautiful F4 Coari RSGs?

Congrats either way..They should be some nice fry!

thanks Ryan, Ardan, DW and brewmaster!

well, the photos show the F1 crossing of the Heckel and a Coari RSG. spotting is very minimal. and nope, from a different breeder of the RSGs. this one's from a friend who did the preliminary crossings of the Heckel and the Coari, but gave up refining the strain. many in asia are now gearing towards the golden & albino strains of crossings, and thus, imho, neglecting the many possibilities of the wild traits which are ever so alluring! :D

i'm crossing it with a wild brown here with a prominent stress bar.

have done 2 other heckel spawns so far, 1 of which has this domestic heckel as the male, and another with another wild male. both spawns do have quite a good percentage of heckel juveniles. will get down to taking the photos soon!

thanks for the so many words of praises guys.. but really, the fishes take credit for spawning in my tanks, not me. i guess it's just plain luck.. ;)

thanks so much for taking an appreciative stand! :)

Great Job.
And yes the Fish have been a big part in it, but you have to provide the necessary care and that part is also from great importance.
You have done a wonderful job. ;)
