hello, i have been interested in discus for around a year now. i saved all my money for a ro/di unit.

is this good to house a pair

30g long tank
wet dry filter
150 watt heater
stock lighting

its going to be a bb

Sounds good except for 30G is too small to have 6+ discus. If you are going to get some discus, wait till you can buy yourself at least a 65G tank. Believe me, you will be happy that you did.

Another thing you need to give thought to is aging/heating your water for water changes.

I have 2-30Gl setup: one for breeding and one for quarantine. So to answer your question, if it will support one pair – yes. BUT recommendation is to keep 6-8 or at leased 4 of them so there is less fighting. Your 30Gl will support 4 juv. but not for to long (5-7 month).

I would go with Ron’s recommendation and set 30 as a quarantine tank.

I keep my in two 70Gl. 6 in one and 8 in the other and there doing great.:)
