What 7 months of care can do to a fish.

I bought this fish 7 months ago when I started the hobby. I bought her from the LFS. After reading and posted messages I concluded that it was stunted and was very disappointed. Now, I can see that it is not stunted at all. She's not enormous but 5.5". Last week she paired up with a male that had lost his female about 2 months ago, and very soon a small batch of fertile eggs was laid. Yesterday they hatched! Here are the before and after pics. Guess which is which.

Thanks, today they moved the fry. It seems like its a good thing the dad is much older. At least they got it right the first time.
The tank is not a breeder but it seems they wanted to try. The eggs were laid on calcium carbonate crystal rocks or limestone. But they hatched anyway.
