I make my own. I buy replacement sponge for hydros and use 3/4" pvc.
Cost about 3.00

I have detail pics if you want.

Put two sponges in the tank rather than just one big one

If you haven't bought your sponges yet you might try Ken's fish. He has Hydro V's for 7 bucks right now.

Jehmco has the lowest price on Hydros' w/ the V's going for around 6.75 or so.. bigalsonline.com is 9.95. Drs Foster Smith sells Azoo. Many people prefer the Azoo but I have some of both and like the Hydro's better cause you can put a little airstone inside so they're much quieter..

I like simple and cheap ... a 4 inch Cube makes an effective albiet unattractive filter. Typically these cubes have a hollowed out center, a small hole in which you can insert an airtube (these are air driven), and slate or glass bottoms to weigh down the filter. You can buy these sponge filters from established breeders such as Angels Plus (www.angelsplus.com). The are about 4 or 5 dollars each.
