Hi All

Well we leave on our vacation tomorrow and I don’t know if I can relax while were away. I am planning on doing a WC tonight and another tomorrow before we leave in the morning. I have showed my sister in law how to do the WCs and watched her do it a couple of times. I am going to have her feed and do WCs every other day while were away. I hope every thing goes well. Its like the first time you were ever away from your kids. Fingers crossed.

I know what you mean, I have a trip in March. This will be my first vacation since getting my fish and I'm not looking forward to the time off. :p

Good Luck Earl! Enjoy your vacation. Just be sure to stress to your Sitter not to over feed. If anything have them fed far less than you would.

Earl,

If you are going to be gone a week or less just have your sister-in-law look in and make sure:
1. the tank doesn't leak,
2. the fish are not floating,
3. the tank does not leak,
4. the temperature is OK,
5. the tank does not leak,
6. the fish are right side up!

Your pets will be fine without food or water changes for a week, honest!

Earl,

Post a sign near the tank "Turn Heaters back on after tank fills!!" :D

Good luck, and try to enjoy your vacation.. hopefully you'll be somewhere you can call and check in everyday :D

Hi All

Thanks for the words of encouragement. I have the entire process written down step by step. I have made up bags of food for each feeding for each tank. I know that the odds are they will be fine. we will know in a week how it goes.

Thanks again

Hi All

Well we got back from vacation tonight and the fish look great. ( sigh of relief ) I drempt 3 times while we were away that I came home to tanks with a 1 inch deep layer of poop and all fish dead or dying. My sister in law did a great job takeing care of them. Im going to have to take her out for dinner and buy her a good gift for this one. The only bad thing about the whole thing is going from shorts and tee shirts in Florida to coats and gloves in Michigan. And I have to go back to work. Unless anyone would like to donate large sums of money to the NAAER ( National Association for the Advancement of Earl Ross ). LOL. It was worth a try.
