I been told that since Discus/fish are considered 'AGRICLUTURE' a permit it required to export them. I never been to US, and I'm not above smuggling discus ;) but just incase...some one or me gets the oppertunity to carry some out in their/my hand luggage.
how do :
1) US citizens , get the permit
2) Non-US citizens (visitors) get the permit

what are the requirements and how long does it take?

THANKS IN ADVANCE

http://www.le.fws.gov/Info_Importers_Exporters.htm

It cost $55 a year for a import/export permit and $55 for each shipment to be inspected. If you are a hobbyiest you don't need the permit for a few fish, Just be honest when you travel and show them the fish when you go thru security. I've traveled internationally with adult discus in my carry on luggage. Ken
