Hi there

I need some advice. I'm planning to setup an aquarium and would like to use UGF. Could I have live plants in the gravel or should I use plastic plants for the decoration.Appreciate any advice. Thanks.

You can use plants with a ugf, just not plants with extensive root systems (such as amazon swords) I guess it depends on what type of plants you would like to grow. Stem plants would work. I like java ferns myself, as well as anubias. Both of these plants are very hardy. HTH

Can be done, but is not ideal to say the least... If you are not that into plants, I would say get the plastic ones.........

Hi AJ,

I would not under any circumstances use an undergravel filter, they do not work well and will ultimately lead to poor water conditions.
