Moving best way to ship

Hi,i will be moving in the next few weeks as far as shipping goes the plane from toronto to saskatoon Barb Newell has helped with that.What i would like to know is from there i will be moving to llyodminster alberta about 2 and a half three hour drive away.So some information on how to pack them for the car ride,would it be any different than the plane ride?It is about3 hours shorter than plane ride.What i was thinking is put them in a 5 gallon pail on the floor and if needed put the floor heat on low so it would blow towards the pail.Any suggestion's would be great thanks Dan

Sounds like a pretty good plan. Just keep the pails covered and if you have one available, I would also use a battery-powered airstone as well.

When I last moved, I dropped my sponge filters in the pails with the fish and ran them with airstones enroute. This kept the biofilter going in transit.

Or.. get an inverter to plug into your car's lighter and run your regular airpump off of that

A power inverter is best way to go ,plugged into your cigarette lighter the right size will run a small air pump and and heater

I would do the inverter thing like others have mentioned. I have one and they work great. Look around because the prices very greatly and I bought the cheapest and has worked well for 3 years now. Add up the watts you need when pricing them out. Instead of 5 gallon buckets you might think about large coolers. Depends on how many you have going.

Actually the best way to transport discus is in tall bags with 1/3 water and 2/3 air. The diameter of the bag doesn't need to be much bigger than the length of the fish. . . . They can really slosh around in buckets . . . .
