Whats the best way to move an adult (4-5")discus from one tank to another? Last time I moved mine with a net, one got a rip in its fin somehow. Is there a better way?

Discus will always thrash around a bit and small tears in the fins usually grow back quickly. If it's a bad tear try salt and Melafix.

IMO, a good quality, fine mesh net is still the best way to move fish around. I really like these:

These are made by Python and are fantastic for use with Discus. This is the only brand that I use anymore.

I'm sure that you know this but it's best to only move one fish at a time in a net. Two or more and they will tear each other apart.

Ryan. I agree. Just got one of those nets a few weeks ago. Very nice material.
Seems really big when you get it after having small ones.
After using though it seems just right.

You will get better at transferring discus with practise. . . . don't worry about a split fin.

Thanks everyone. Think I will buy a new net, as mine is not very good. Fin is healing well. :)
