QT Tank

WHat is the best way to set up a QT tank. ? I was told bare bottom tank,
sponge filter and a heater...thats it. ???

How long do you need to quarentine new discus or other fish you might
put into a discus tank?

Is it really neccessary to quarentine new plants for a planted tank as well?

Bare bottom tank, heater and fully cycled filter (Don't add a cycled filter if you plan to add antibiotics to the tank).

Quarantine new discus for 6 - 8 weeks. I think you can dip plants in alum or something else to rid them of parasites.

new plants can bring in unwanted algae, and snails. dip plants in a solution 20 parts water, 1 part bleach to get rid of algae. dipping the plants in a weak solution of potassium permanganate (available at your LFS) will rid the plants of snails and their eggs. good luck!
