what does f3 mean

hi i was looking for info on what f3 means was looking at some discus and in the title it said f3 any help would be great

it means fillial generation,

if you breed 2 discus, their offspring would be F1, if you took those F1 fish and bred them, their offspring would be F2 and so on.

if you took a F2 from the group above and bred it to another unrelated fish, then it would start over again, thier offspring would be F1
