I have recently seen my discus dancing (typical cichlid dance) and also some jaw locking. These actions were between the same two discus. What does this mean ?

It could be the start of mating rituals, here's a brief discription:

Their mating ritual includes becoming concerned about a certain area of the tank and then protecting it as they begin their actual meting ritual. Prior to this, sometimes over a period of some months, one discus might become interested in another, following it around, or allowing another to keep it company. Then the magic mouth-to-mouth butting and waving flanks, some darkening and then lightening back of body color, and finally they go off with one another for life, eating together and spending most of their time together.

could be either of those two. best to watch and see. if it turns agressive, it's establishing the pecking order. if it gets real friendly buy some cigars.

good luck!

pat.

Hey guys. I have spent alot of time watching them and it is 100% friendly. But then the huge snakeskin (bully) jumps in and pecks them both and nips there fins. I have noticed that one of the two jawlocking is going pale and displaying stripes and staying in the corner when the big snakeskin approaches. A firend advised me to remove my snakeskin and then my other 3 will be happy as there will no longer be a bully. But if the two decide to spawn I will need to remove the other one as well.

What should I do ?

Should I remove snakeskin (bully) temp and see if there is a change in the tank if so should I sell it ?
