Hi,
I prefer to keep all @ 26 to 27C...which is 84.5????
When too warm, metabolism rate increases...thing foul faster....etc.
Just my way,
Take care,
Andrew

I keep my show tank (adults) and babies at 85, and the breeding tank at 86 F.
Check your thermometer with an accurate thermometer. I've found that those sold at fish stores vary considerably. They easily could register 82 or 90 and actually be measuring the same temperature. I used an laboratory analystic thermometer to find accurate thermometers at the store. I've found that even the cheapest thermometers measure changes in temperature accurately, they just don't measure the absolute temperature accurately.
All that being said, it probably doesn't matter that much what temperature you keep them at within about 2 degrees F, meaning that there really is no difference between 84 and 86, or 86 and 88 F.

I keep mine at 82-84F. There is really no reason to keep discus at any temp higher than 84F except when treating for a few specific diseases (hex is an example)
